Flipstar Gymnastics teams win titles in Lowell | Sports

LOWELL — Flipstar Gymnastics had four of its teams compete at the Winter Classic in Lowell on Jan. 16, and the center had two team titles and two runners-up.

The Xcel Bronze and Xcel Silver teams won team titles and the Xcel Gold and Xcel Platinum teams were runners-up. A total of 28 local gymnasts competed, winning 101 top-3 medals, including 31 first-place championships.

“I couldn’t be prouder of all our girls,” said Flipstar coach Aimee Goff. “This was the first competitive meeting for many of our Xcel Bronze girls. All of our Xcel Silver girls compete at this level in their first year.

Three girls competed on the Xcel Platinum team and four girls competed on the Xcel Gold team. Goff said that due to the smaller number of kids competing, there was little to no room for error.

Alaina Flanery, Bristol Jabrocki and Morgan Beenen led Flipstar’s Xcel Bronze team, all with first place overall in their respective age groups. Flanery was champion on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise and second in vault.

Jabrocki was champion on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise and second on balance beam.

Beenen was champion on balance beam, second on uneven bars, third on floor exercise and fourth on balance beam.

River Saya, Olivia Brandt and Lily Meaney all earned second place all-around medals in their age groups. Brandt was champion on uneven bars, second on vault and balance beam, and fifth on floor.

Meaney was champion on balance beam, second on vault, third on uneven bars, and fourth on floor exercise.

Saya was champion on uneven bars, second on floor exercise, third on balance beam and fourth on vault.

Madelyn Muralt, Khloe Munsell, Hartley Alvesteffer and Abby Dodson all took third place. Muralt placed second on vault, third on uneven bars and balance beam, and fourth on floor exercise.

Munsell was the vaulting champion, bringing home awards for second place on balance beam, third place on uneven bars, and fifth place on floor exercise.

Alvesteffer placed second on uneven bars and floor exercise, third on balance beam and vault.

Dodson was the champion in vault and floor training, third on uneven bars and fourth on balance beam.

Emily Brandt placed second on the balance beam and third on the floor exercise. She also placed fourth on uneven bars, vault and all-around. Naimh Gordon and Zoei Bessonnett each finished fourth in the all-around. Gordon placed third on vault and balance beam, and fourth on uneven bars and floor exercise. Bessonnett placed fourth on vault, uneven bars and balance beam and fifth on floor exercise. Laura Johnston placed second in the floor exercise and fifth in vault, uneven bars and balance beam for a fifth-place finish in the all-around medal.

Ainsley Albrecht led the way for the Xcel Silver team. She was the all-around champion for her age group and won the balance beam, placed second in the vault and uneven bars, and third in the floor exercise. She also won a special award for the highest total of all age groups by any Xcel Silver gymnast in the entire competition.

Cara Siemiaszko was also the all-around winner of her age group. She won the floor exercise and placed second on vault and balance beam, and third on uneven bars.

Sierra Surd won the floor exercise for her age group, placed second on balance beam, third on vault, and third on uneven bars, earning second place in the all-around medal.

Grace Hasenbank also took 2nd place overall in her age group. She was champion on vault and uneven bars, and fourth on balance beam and floor. Jade Emick had podium finishes with 1st place on uneven bars, 2nd place on floor exercise and 3rd place on balance beam for a 3rd place finish in all-around. Annika Heemstra and Sydney Morrissey both earned 4th place all-around medals in their age groups. Annika also brought home awards for 2nd place on vault and balance beam, 3rd place on floor and 4th place on uneven bars. In her very first competition, Sydney Morrissey picked up awards for 3rd place on balance beam and floor exercise, 4th place on uneven bars and 5th place on vault for 4th place in all-around medal.

Nina Frick led the way for the Xcel Gold team with her first all-around finish. She was also champion in vault, balance beam, and floor exercise, and runner-up on uneven bars.

Ava Johnson picked up awards for second place in floor training, third place in vault and uneven bars, and fourth place on balance beam for a second place finish in all-around.

Laney Bottrell had a second-place podium finish on the uneven bars and floor exercise and a third-place finish on the balance beam. She also brought home fourth-place vaulting awards for a fourth-place all-around medal.

Kaydence Taibl placed third on vault, uneven bars and floor. She finished fifth on the balance beam for an all-around medal for fifth place.

Maya Malburg led the way for the Xcel Platinum team with a first all-around finish. She was first on vault and balance beam, second on uneven bars, and third on floor exercise.

Destiny Laisure placed second on vault and balance beam, and third on uneven bars. She also brought home fourth place on floor for the runner-up all-around medal.

Carly Moffitt finished third overall. She was also second on uneven bars, third on floor exercise, and fourth on vault and balance beam.
